Founded over forty years ago, Feed the Children has a mission of “providing hope and resources for those without life’s essentials.” They are committed to creating a world where no child goes to bed hungry.
Helping Children In Need
Food insecurity for children and their families is a global issue. In the US alone, it is estimated that 1 in 6 households with children can be identified as food insecure, meaning that parents struggle to provide consistent meals for their children. Around the world, 820 million people are suffering from hunger and malnutrition is the most significant contributor to disease in the world. These are some of the issues that Feed the Children is tackling head-on every day.
Nearly one in six American children is food insecure, and the meals they consume at school are their only source of nutrition. This creates a precarious situation during the summer months. Feed the Children stands in the gap by partnering with schools and other community-based groups.
Through its five strategically-placed distribution centers, food and critical supplies were provided to over 8 million children and families in the US in 2021.
