Aloe Immunity Mai Tai

The Mai Tai remains one of tiki culture’s most iconic symbols. And although it was created in the 1930s, its claim to fame as one of the world’s most famous cocktails began in 1953 when it was introduced to guests at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in 1953. The rum and fruit juice-based concoction became an instant success and is still popular in Polynesian-themed restaurants and bars around the globe.

Your friends at Lily have created an immunity-boosting version of the South Pacific classic! In this new mocktail, we’ve substituted the rum for our organic aloe vera juice to create a truly refreshing beverage. We’re certain this mocktail will quickly become a summertime favorite!

Ingredient Spotlight

The classic Mai Tai recipe has evolved over the years. The original focus was the rum (of course!), and tropical fruit juices were added when the drink was brought to Hawaii. Our version includes orange and lime juice, two antioxidant and vitamin C powerhouses. Vitamin C naturally fortifies your immune system, while antioxidants help neutralize free radicals that can compromise cells.

Instead of using orgeat cocktail syrup, we add a dash of pure almond extract. This gives the mocktail a mild nutty flavor without the preservatives, sugar, and extra calories! Almond oil is quite versatile in its own right, offering skin protection from sun damage and helping promote heart health and healthy blood sugar levels. Make sure you select an extract that is actually made from almond oil!

Our recipe would be incomplete without our organic aloe vera juice! Verified by clinical studies to strengthen the immune system, Lily aloe juice works with your body to increase white blood cells (your first line of defense against sickness!) while reducing harmful toxins.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • 10 oz Rocks or tiki-inspired glasses  
  • Cocktail shaker or another sturdy container with a lid
  • Fruit slices or maraschino cherries for garnish
  • Measuring cup

Here’s Our Mocktail Recipe

  •  4 oz aloe juice
  • 4 oz orange juice
  • 4 oz lime juice
  • Dash of pure almond extract
  • Crushed ice
  • Sparkling water

Let’s Shake Things Up!

  1. Squeeze the orange and lime and add the juice directly into the cocktail shaker.
  2. Add the aloe juice and the almond extract.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice ½ to ¾ full directly on top of the ingredients.
  4. Top off with sparkling water.
  5. Put on the lid (make sure it’s secure!) and shake vigorously for 12-15 seconds.
  6. Pour into your glass, garnish with fruit, and enjoy your visit to the tropics!
