DIY Aloe Mask Skincare Recipe - Lily of the Desert

DIY Aloe Mask Skincare Recipe

Why use an aloe mask? Well, winter weather can be brutal on your skin. Even brief contact with snow, ice, and cold wind can leave us feeling dry, tight, and irritated… and that goes double for our exposed faces. Luckily, there’s an easy way to soothe and avoid that harsh winter itch: good moisturization!

Follow our DIY aloe mask recipe below for the hydrating benefits dry winter skin craves!

Making Your Aloe Mask

When it comes to your face, it’s best to use gentle ingredients you can trust. We’ve gathered four simple yet rejuvenating components to defend your skin against seasonal weather.

Aloe Vera

Every good mask needs a good foundation. Lily’s 99% Aloe Vera Gelly is great at replenishing lost moisture by hydrating at least three epidermal layers. Winter dryness and itching are quickly relieved thanks to our patent-pending Aloesorb™ formula, leaving skin feeling renewed and hydrated. And it’s now available in a convenient 16-ounce pump bottle to handle all of your daily skincare needs!

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil, famous for its culinary versatility, also provides many skincare benefits that can help during the changing weather. Tropical Plantation’s Organic Virgin Coconut Oil has a variety of antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties that offer holistic balance to the mask and can help cleanse and nourish any patches of dry, rough skin.

Vitamin E Oil

Many people ingest vitamins, but some can be used topically for amazing results. Vitamin E oil is a good example of this, as it has plenty of restorative qualities. It helps soothe and mend any damage caused by cold weather, and even offers anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and emollient benefits. Not to mention, Vitamin E oil naturally makes skin appear firmer and more youthful, making it a perfect addition to this formula.

Raw Honey

Finally, raw honey has a natural ability to reduce inflammation caused by winter wear-and-tear. This makes it an ideal helper for acne, eczema, psoriasis, and balanced skin bacteria. And, if your complexion has lost its natural glow, honey’s gentle exfoliating properties also help brighten and revive skin. Of course, due to honey’s sticky nature, it’s important to gently and thoroughly scrub the mixture off several times to ensure it’s off completely.

This combination of skincare favorites results in a rich mask that moisturizes, nourishes, exfoliates, and restores weather-worn skin when you need it most. In addition to your face, you can safely use this recipe on hands or other dry, irritated, or acne-prone areas of the body as well.

What You’ll Need

Prepare the Ingredients

In a bowl, add the 99% Aloe Vera Gelly, Coconut Oil, Vitamin E Oil, and Honey. Remember, if your coconut oil is solid, warm it over low heat until it melts. Stir and mix everything well to combine all the ingredients. Once complete, your aloe mask is ready to use!

DIY Aloe Mask Directions

  1. Apply an even layer of the mask on clean skin.
  2. Wait 10-15 minutes, then wipe the mask off with a clean and damp washcloth several times with warm water.
  3. Enjoy the look and feel of your renewed skin!
