St. Patrick’s Day Detox Smoothie - Lily of the Desert

St. Patrick’s Day Detox Smoothie

If St. Patrick’s Day festivities leave you feeling a little green, a healthy dose of aloe can help turn your luck around. Today we’re bringing balance back into our systems with a deliciously detoxifying and immune-supporting green smoothie. Let’s get blending!

Gather Your Green Ingredients

Although celery isn’t often featured in smoothie recipes, it’s got plenty to offer! Celery is rich in antioxidants that help protect our cells, blood vessels, and organs from oxidative damage. It also contains Vitamin C and phytonutrients, which have been shown to reduce instances of inflammation within our digestive tract and organs.

Cucumber contains a high concentration of nutrients like magnesium, potassium, and Vitamin K. Additionally, they’re high in antioxidants, and add some much-needed hydration to the smoothie. After all, cucumbers are made up of 96% water. To get the most out of your cucumber, be sure to include the peel in the mixture. It will add fiber and maintain the most nutrients.

Speaking of fiber, apples and avocados can help with that, too. Not only do they both contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids, but they also have the lutein and zeaxanthin antioxidants to help improve our vision.

Similarly, spinach provides numerous antioxidants, beta carotene, and Vitamin C. This combination helps keep your skin and eyes healthy while warding off potential invaders within our bodies. A squeeze of lemon also adds a burst of Vitamin C, which is praised for its antioxidant properties regarding immune health and antiviral protection.

Finally, kick your classic green smoothie up a notch with an ode to Aloe vera. It contains 200 biologically active compounds to act as a fantastic source of immune and digestive support, which is supported even further by our very own Aloesorb infusion process.

In the case of Lily’s aloe vera, it’s clinically proven to help reduce the toxins that often build up in the body, and even helps support nutrient levels by increasing the rate of absorption.

What You’ll Need

  • 3 Stalks Celery
  • ½ of a Cucumber
  • 1 Apple (Cored & Chopped)
  • 1 Slice of Avocado
  • 1 Cup of Spinach
  • 1 Squeeze of Lemon
  • 2 Oz. Lily’s Whole Leaf Aloe Vera

Detox Smoothie Directions

Cut, core, and slice the ingredients as necessary. Gently pile the celery, cucumber, apple, avocado, and spinach into the blender. Add a squeeze of lemon juice and Lily’s Preservative Free Whole Leaf Aloe Vera, then mix until nice and smooth.

As always, you can adjust the ingredients based on your preferences. The spinach can be substituted with your favorite leafy greens. You can also add more avocado for a thicker, creamier consistency. To make it extra refreshing, blend with ice and garnish the results with cilantro.

Now the only thing left to do is take a sip and enjoy!

Why You Should Always Include Aloe Vera

Did you know toxins are a huge contributor in preventing our cells from absorbing nutrients when they need them? Without proper daily detoxification, this can cause our bodies to be more susceptible to illness, and likely affect our wellbeing in the long run.

The fruits and veggies in your normal smoothie do a good job of providing us with nutrients, but our bodies don’t always absorb them like we should. Aloe vera can help this by offering overall support in healthy digestion, detoxification, nutrient absorption, and antioxidants.

Not to mention, our aloe is clinically proven to increase white blood cell counts, which make up our greatest natural defense force against harmful germs and bacteria. So you’re not just drinking a tasty green delight; you’re also working to strengthen your immune system with enhanced aloe protection!
